New service applications reviewed by Board members.
Mark White of Environmental Partners Group gave an update on the new source investigation which is being done at site 10 in North Harwich. Test well # showed high iron and manganese levels and this would require treatment. If the amount of water to be pumped is high (approximately 3 to 4 million gallons) this could be feasible, and would be done in phases. This could be 5 years out in planning. Different configurations are still being explored. This site has good water quantity and questionable quality. All sites must stay away from ponds, streams, vernal pools, etc., and this eliminates quite a few areas. The area of we 10 us the best area for the quantity of water needed for the future. Other sites warrant investigation also per Mr. Cavanaugh. More detailed modeling will be done by the engineers and brought back to the Board members in about six weeks. Contract signed to continue preliminary groundwater monitoring of water withdrawals.
Update given by George Cavanaugh on the last Selectmen's meeting. Agreements and details still need to be worked out regarding indirect costs being charged to the Water Department. A meeting needs to be set up with Town Counsel to continue this further. Superintendent Wiegand will proceed with this.
Meeting adjourned at 9:30 AM.
