Harwich Water & Wastewater Department

Present: Chairman Donald T. Bates, Jr, Vice Chairman Danette Gonsalves, Clerk George Cavanaugh, Superintendent Craig Wiegand, Secretary Carol M. Connor

Minutes of 01/21/03 reviewed by Board. A motion to approve was made by Mr. Cavanaugh. Mrs. Gonsalves seconded. Unanimous vote to approve.

Bill schedules signed as presented.

Service applications signed for:

1. 57 Sisson Road
2. 132 Queen Anne Road
3. 26 Moss Hill Road

The Board had a discussion regarding a proposal to lease Water Dept property for an energy tower for wind power. A land lease would be for a time period of 25 years plus 5 years. The question was raised as to whether the money would be used for the department or go into the general funds. The proposed tower would be approximately 150 ft. high, and would have to be approved by the ZBA due to current height restrictions. Mr. Wiegand will pursue this further for informational purposes.

No superintendent's report - Mr. Wiegand has been, and will continue to be, working on the rate review, vulnerability assessment, and consumer confidence reports.

Board members would like to review the recent interview tape done on changing to an enterprise fund before it is broadcast. Mr. Wiegand will speak to Jill Mason at Channel 18.

Next meeting dates will be: March 4th and 18th and April 8th and 29th.
