Water Storage Tank off Oak Street near Mid-Cape Highway
***UPDATE***
The erection of the 1.5 million gallon water storage facility
located off the undeveloped portion of Oak Street was completed
on August 5, 2005. The structure was shop primed on all surfaces
except the joints which were field welded. The erection proceeded
without complication and within schedule.
On August 8, 2005, the painting subcontractor mobilized at the
site and the surface preparation process has started. The joint
areas will be prepared and the primer will be applied to both the
interior and exterior surfaces. Once the primer is complete, the
contractor will apply one full intermediate coat to all surfaces,
and two full intermediate coats to all surfaces. The estimated
completion date for the painting is the end of September, 2005.
The remaining work to be completed is the construction of the
control room within the structure, completion of the electrical
work, completion of the site work, testing and disinfection of
the system and final inspection. It is estimated that the project
will be completed and ready to be put online in December of this
year.
This project is the first step in the upgrading of the Harwich
Water Department Water Storage Improvement Plan. If you have any
question in regard to the construction of the new storage facility,
please contact the Harwich Water Department at 508-432-0304, or
