Harwich Water Department Receives Mass, D.E.P. Recognition
The Harwich Water Department received a letter of Recognition
from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection for
the 2004 Public Water Suppliers Award.
The Letter reads as follows;
The Department Of Environmental Protection's Drinking Water Program
congratulates the Harwich Water Department for scoring within the
top 10 percent in the 2004 Public Water Systems Awards Program.
It is an accomplishment to be included in this elite group of public
water systems in the Commonwealth,
Scoring was based on a point system that evaluated compliance
with the drinking water regulations in areas such as administrative
capacity, source protection, distribution, treatment, disinfection,
and monitoring. Your high score reflects your system's ability
to consistently provide high quality drinking water to your customers.
The Department acknowledges the many challenges water suppliers
face today and encourages you to continue to strive for excellence.
The Department also encourages you to conduct non-regulatory activities
such as open houses or conservation education to help promote the
importance of quality drinking water.
Protecting and supplying safe and fit water is a very important
task and the Harwich Water Department should be proud of their
efforts.
Sincerely,
David Y. Terry, Program Director
