Harwich Water Department News & Events
May 9, 2002 was Massachusetts Drinking Water Day. Mansfield was
host to the annual Drinking Water Awards Program where the Department
of Environmental Protection and the Massachusetts Drinking Water
Education Partnership presented awards to the top 25 systems in
the state of Massachusetts.
Today in Mansfield, the Harwich Water Department received two
awards; the first award received by the Department was that of
the 2002 DEP Source Protection Award. This award was for its outstanding
efforts for its protection of the Monomoy lens, along with its
community education programs. The Harwich Water Department has
been able to established one of the highest standards in the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts.
The second award received for being in the Top 10% of medium to
large systems in the State of Massachusetts. This award was given
for its outstanding performance and achievement in the year 2001.
The Harwich Water Department will continue to strive for excellence
in the service of its community. The Harwich Water Department would
like to thank the Towns people of Harwich for their continued support.
The Harwich Water Department was please to have been able to nominate
Mary Hutchins of the Truro Central School for the Environmental
Protection Agency, Environmental Educators Award. Ms. Hutchins
was awarded the Environmental Educators Award in Mansfield today.
She was picked out of 2,800 nominees, to receive this high honor.
The Harwich Water Department sends its congratulations to Ms. Hutchins,
Job Well Done!!
