Water Commissioner Meeting Minutes
September 11, 2007

Present: Chairman Donald T. Bates, Vice Chairman George Cavanaugh, Clerk Danette Gonsalves, Director of Water Operations Craig Wiegand, Town Accountant Dave Ryan

Meeting called to order at 8:19 a.m.

Town Accountant Dave Ryan met with the Board to have the Commissioners sign a document for the Enterprise System. Three original documents were signed by the Board of Water Commissioners.

Vice Chairman George Cavanaugh made a motion to approve minutes from meeting held on August 21, 2007. Motion seconded by Clerk Danette Gonsalves. Unanimous vote to approve.

Director of Water Operations Wiegand informed Board that office employees are attending Munis conference in Boston.

Motion to approve abatements made by Chairman Donald Bates. Motion seconded by Vice Chairman George Cavanaugh. Unanimous vote to approve, abatement signed.

Director of Water Operations Wiegand asked Board of Water Commissioners for authorization for Site #10 investigation for deep soil boring and lithology evaluation. Authorization signed by Chairman Donald Bates.

Discussion regarding putting meters out to bid again.

New marker flags found vandalized. The vandalism was reported to the Police Department. A media release is scheduled to be done informing the public that a fine will be imposed for destruction of Water Department property.

Mr. Gilbertson, account #1312, did not show up for his appointment with Board.

A written request was received from the West Barnstable Fire Department for a donation of 6 hydrants for their annual open house.

Motion was made by Vice Chairman George Cavanaugh to donate up to eight (8) hydrants, six (6) hydrants will be donated to West Barnstable Fire Department and two (2) hydrants will be donated to Truro. Motion seconded by Clerk Danette Gonsalves. Unanimous vote to approve.

Water main flushing began on Monday, September 10, 2007 and will continue through November 30, 2007.

Director of Water Operations Wiegand met with the Dennis Water Department to discuss cooperative approach in installing water main extension on Division Street in West Harwich. A 2” water main is to be upgraded to an 8” water main from Pine Grove Road to Route 28.

Motion to adjourn made by Vice Chairman George Cavanaugh at 8:50 a.m. Motion seconded by Clerk Danette Gonalves. Unanimous vote to approve.

Next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 25, 2007.
