Meeting called to order at 8:15 am.

Abatement approved and signed.

Motion to approve minutes from meeting held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 made by Vice Chairman George Cavanaugh. Motion was seconded by Clerk Danette Gonsalves.

Town Accountant Dave Ryan will be meeting before the Commissioners next week, Tuesday, July 24, 2007 to discuss a projected five year budget for Town of Harwich, and will specifically discuss the Water Departments portion of said budget.

Update was given on water account #8335.

Update was given on water accounts #576 and #6400. Director of Water Operations Wiegand had not had any correspondence with homeowner since he met before the Town Selectmen.

Haley and Ward sent a proposal with a quote for the repainting of the Lothrop and Route 39 tanks. The cost to repaint both tanks would be approximately $3 million. Director of Water Operations Wiegand discussed with the Board the option of replacing one of the tanks instead of having them repainted. There would be longer term benefits in replacing a tank versus having them repainted. Vice Chairman Cavanaugh suggested that we have Haley and Ward research the most ideal location and include a cost estimate for this project.

Discussion took place about a possible rate increase that would go into effect sometime next year.

The Board was informed that water account #1947 which was shut off and assessed a $500 fine for tampering with the water meter. The homeowner paid fine in full and water was restored to property.

Bid results were received for General Water Works supplies. Director of Water Operations Wiegand asked permission from the Board to award bids to lowest bidders once finalized.

Motion made by Vice Chairman Cavanaugh to approve Director of Water Operations Wiegand’s request. Motion was seconded by Clerk Gonsalves. Unanimous vote to approve.

Interviews are scheduled to take place today for the Journeyman Electrician position.

All of the new generators have been installed.

The RFP’s for cell phone antennas are being prepared.

Director of Water Operations Wiegand discussed with the Board a plan to set up an insurance policy that would be offered to water department customers. This plan would go into effect next year.

Water main projects have been completed on five streets in Town. The Water Department will focus their attention to the areas of Town they feel are the highest priority.

Director of Water Operations Wiegand discussed with the Board an application from the owners of 11 Rose Lane to hook up to Town water. On Friday of last week, the owners called the Department notifying us that their well had dried up and the urgency with which they needed to get a Town water service. The owners have discussed with Director of Water Operations Wiegand their need for financial assistance.

Motion made by Vice Chairman Cavanaugh to allow Director of Water Operations Wiegand to negotiate payment plan with homeowner’s on 11 Rose Lane. Motion seconded by Clerk Gonsalves. Unanimous vote to approve.

Motion to approve August meeting dates was made by Vice Chairman Cavanaugh. Motion was seconded by Chairman Bates. Unanimous vote to approve. Meeting dates scheduled for Tuesday, August 7th and 21st, 2007.
