Meeting called to order at 8:15 am.

Motion made by Clerk George Cavanaugh to approve minutes from meeting held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007. Motion was seconded by Vice Chairman Danette Gonsalves.

The Board made a request to discuss personnel matter with Water Department employees in an executive session.

Superintendent Wiegand informed the Board that the Water Department received an award for being one of the Top 10 drinking water facilities in the state. On Thursday, May 10, the Water Department will be receiving the award during Drinking Water Week in Amherst, MA.

Town Counsel responded to Superintendent Wiegand’s request for legal services regarding #18-20 Sea Street. Superintendent Wiegand updated the Board with their recommendations.

Update was given regarding account #3745. Request was received by homeowner’s representative to turn water on for his return mid-May. The Department denied request, explaining that we needed a certified letter from their plumber ensuring there are no leaks on homeowner’s side of property. An additional 80,000 gallons plus has been used with no one living at the property.

Update was given regarding current water main projects throughout Town. They are expected to be completed in May.

Seventy-five hydrants will be replaced this summer and a project is expected to begin to replace any meter pits around Town.

Paperwork had been filed with the Department of Environmental Protection for the New Source.

Superintendent Wiegand requested permission from the Board to change the title of his position from Superintendent to Director of Water Operations. Clerk George Cavanaugh made a motion to approve title change. Motion was seconded by Vice Chairman Danette Gonsalves. Unanimous vote to approve.

The next meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007.

Clerk George Cavanaugh addressed Department employees, congratulating them for their continuous hard work in recognition of the Department placing as one of the Top 10 drinking water facilities in the state.
