Water Commissioner Meeting Minutes September 26, 2006
Present: Chairman Donald T. Bates, Vice Chairman Danette Gonsalves,
Clerk George Cavanaugh, Superintendent Wiegand, Secretary Kelly
Byrnes
Meeting called to order at 8:21 am
Motion made by Donald Bates to approve the minutes from September
12, 2006. Motion was seconded by Danette Gonsalves.
Superintendent Wiegand informed Board members that the sanitary
survey of the Water Department came back great. Per Superintendent
Wiegand, the Harwich Water Department is currently sitting number
one in the state for no leaks. Keeping up with good maintenance
is one of the factors that attribute to this good standing.
Per Superintendent Wiegand, all of our personnel issues seem to
have worked themselves out and everything seems to be running smoothly.
The bids for Wells 8 & 9 and Packaged Electrical System will be
going back out later this year. Bids were pulled due to unclear
sections. Superintendent Wiegand has been working with the Town
Engineers to review and finalize contracts.
Superintendent Wiegand has a meeting with the Capital Outlay this
Thursday. They are looking at discussing options for automated
meter readings, the new source, and possibly purchasing a new dump
truck for the department.
Per Superintendent Wiegand, he is looking into a rate study program
on the computer to look at the rates for this upcoming year.
Update regarding Mr. Harris situation. Water Department is going
to remove the pipe from his property and wrap it around into the
street.
Motion made by George Cavanuagh to set October meeting dates.
Motion seconded by Danette Gonsalves. October meeting dates scheduled
for Tuesday, October 10 and Tuesday, October 24.
Motion made by George Cavanaugh to adjourn meeting at 9:00 am.
