HARWICH WATER DEPARTMENT

Present: Chairman Donald Bates, Vice Chairman Gary Sinclair, Clerk
Danette Gonsalves, Superintendent Craig Wiegand, Secretary Carol
Connor.
Meeting called to order at 5:30 PM.

Minutes of 4/16/02 were reviewed by Board members. Mrs. Gonsalves
made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Mr. Sinclair seconded
the motion. The vote was unanimous to approve.
Bill schedules were signed as presented.

Personnel action forms for Neil Salzillo, John McCarthy, and William
Peninger signed by Board members.
The Board discussed the presentation of our articles #24 and #45
which will be coming up at Town meeting. Mr. Bates will make the
presentations (Mrs. Gonsalves will present in his absence) and
Mr. Sinclair will debate the articles if necessary.
Greg Eldredge of Haley & Ward was present at the meeting to discuss
the location of the proposed tank and what is needed. The cost
is $3,000 to 3,500 per foot just for steel, plus the cost for concrete,
plus extra mains, plus roads. The elevation of the current site
is good as it is not in conflict with a residential area as other
sites all have houses within a 100 ft radius. Access to the site
will be off the Cape Cod Tech School parking lot. All questions
that will be brought up at town meeting should be answered by the
facts that we have. Also, it should be brought out that the Water
Department will help finance the construction through the rates.
The Water Department brings in more revenue than our budget. The
cost of a 2-1/2 acre wooded lot needs to be determined per Mr.
Sinclair so it can also be included in costing the project.
Mr. Sinclair brought up the difference in the budgets of the Selectmen
at $210,000 for water mains and the Finance Committee for $100,000.
This Department needs to support the Selectmenis budget so we can
get some projects done. The Lower County Road bridge project is
one that needs to be considered.
Mr. Sinclair made a motion to cancel the meeting of 5/7/2002 as
it conflicts with Town meeting. Mrs. Gonsalves seconded. Vote was
unanimous to approve.
Meeting adjourned at 6:45 PM.
